The biggest release yet for readers and writers: your poems now hold a conversation, every poetic element and sound explains itself, and Discover reads like a journal.

Correspondence & Marginalia

Replies grew up. They are now letters, and readers can write in the margins of a poem.

• Correspondence — replies render as letters at the foot of each poem, each in its writer’s own ink colour. The poem’s author wears a ✍ Poet badge, and “write back” threads a reply beneath a letter.
• Marginalia — tap any line of a poem to leave a note in its margin, anchored to that exact line. On wide screens notes float in the gutter; on phones a dot marks the line and opens a notes sheet. When a line has several notes they collapse into one card with the rest a tap away.
• Works on every poem — plain text and richly-formatted (HTML) poems alike.
• The poet’s control — a per-poem toggle can close the margin; turning it off never deletes notes, they fall back into Correspondence with their quoted line.

Poetic elements & sounds that explain themselves

No more wondering what a villanelle is or where a sound came from.

• Info anywhere — long-press any form, style, meter, rhyme scheme, or device chip for a definition; the same card appears above matching search results.
• A browsable reference — Resources now has a Poetic Elements section covering every element, with optional “Read more” essays.
• Sounds are first-class — search the audio library, and follow any sound to the poems that use it on its own page.
• Safer audio — background music is fingerprinted (AudD) to screen for copyright before it goes live.

Discover, reimagined

On wide screens Discover now reads like the front page of a literary journal.

• The journal — a masthead with the day’s date, a three-column featured spread with a guaranteed New Voices slot, and a numbered Trending strip.
• Trending sounds & elements — see which sounds and which poetic forms are having a moment right now.
• The Index — new grid cards show the form, opening lines, and a mic/♪ marker at a glance.

What we fixed

• Anonymous poets stay anonymous — a sound’s poem list no longer exposed the author of an anonymous piece; it now hides them everywhere, as it should.
• Only published poems surface — poems still in review no longer appeared (or were counted) on a shared sound page.
• Margin notes never cover the poem — on long-lined poems the floating notes could overlap the verse; they now narrow or step aside so the poem is always readable.
• Discover stopped drifting sideways — a long trending title could push the page into a horizontal scroll; fixed.
• Compose settings scroll — on desktop the settings rail could hide toggles below the fold; it now scrolls.

Reliability, security & accessibility

• Ads behave — an ad fills its space edge-to-edge or the slot simply isn’t there; a loaded ad stays put as you scroll, and each is counted once.
• Learn as you go — a new “How replies work” guide in Resources, a heads-up in the composer about the settling window, and an onboarding tip for margin notes.
• Trust & safety — strengthened child-safety reporting and safer staff mail handling behind the scenes.
• Sanitized rendering & pinned builds — poem HTML is sanitized on display, and dependency fixes keep the mobile apps building cleanly.
