v2.11.0 — Open mic, co-hosts & gifts during live performances

Live performances become more of an event. Viewers can request an open-mic slot, hosts can bring in co-hosts and moderators, and confections can be gifted during a stream. A customisable Be Right Back screen and reconnection notices handle the bumps.

WebMobileAPI

This release turns a live performance into something the audience can take part in.

Open mic

Viewers can ask for a turn at the mic, and the host decides.

  • Request a slot — from the performance page.
  • Host controls — accept, decline or revoke slots from the manage page.

Co-hosts and live moderators

  • Co-hosts — share a performance with another poet.
  • Moderators — appoint people to help keep your streams in order.
  • Staff tab — manage your team from the manage page in the app.

Gift confections during a stream

  • Gift button — send the performer a confection while they're live.
  • Everyone sees it — a gift plays a burst animation for the whole audience.
  • Host's choice — the gift button only appears when the host allows gifting.

Be right back, and reconnecting

  • Be Right Back — hosts can show a customisable break screen, with its own background image.
  • Reconnection notices — if a stream drops, hosts and viewers see that it's reconnecting instead of a frozen player.

Fixes

Live moderators weren't recognised.

  • Before — people appointed to help run a stream didn't get their permissions.
  • After — moderator and co-host permissions apply.

Some live pages wouldn't open in the app.

  • Before — certain channel and stream links failed to load.
  • After — they open normally.

Gifts animated twice for the sender.

  • Before — you saw your own gift burst twice.
  • After — it plays once.

Reliability, security & accessibility

  • Podcasts and settings — the remaining differences between the web and the app are closed.
  • Accessibility — stronger accessibility checks across the app.
  • Translations — missing strings are translated in every supported language.
