v1.0.0 — Stanza launches
Stanza, The Land of Poets, opens its doors as a home for poetry, written and spoken. Read on the Stage, react with three reactions made for poems, and write alongside others in your circles, with safety tools built in from day one.
WebMobileAPI
Stanza is a social home for poetry. This is everything you can do from the first day.
The Stage, Discover and Search
The Stage is where you read: new poems from the poets you follow, and more besides.
- Stage — your reading feed, front and centre.
- Discover — browse beyond the people you already follow.
- Search — find poems and poets.
- A gentle start — onboarding asks about your interests and mood, offers a first poem to read, and suggests poets to follow.
Write, and speak
Poetry isn't only for the page. Stanza takes written poems, longer prose and spoken word.
- Written poems — compose in a focused editor and publish when you're ready.
- Spoken word — publish a recorded reading of your work.
- Drafts — keep work in progress to yourself until it's finished.
- Share — short share links and embeds for public poems.
Cheer, Encore and Tomato
Instead of a single like, Stanza has three reactions designed for how people actually respond to a poem.
- Cheer — everyday appreciation.
- Encore — the highest praise. You get five a month, so each one means something.
- Tomato — honest disagreement, for when a poem doesn't land for you.
- Replies and critiques — answer a poem with words, or write a considered critique.
Community
- Inner circles — small groups for writing and sharing with people you trust.
- Lists — gather poems into collections of your own.
- Confections — send another poet a small gift with a note.
- Follows — follow poets, and approve follow requests if you'd rather choose who follows you.
Safety from day one
- Muted words and blocking — keep what you don't want to see out of your feed.
- Plagiarism claims — report work that has been copied from you.
- Moderation — a dedicated moderation team, with strikes and an appeals process.
Reliability, security & accessibility
- Themes — choose how Stanza looks to you.
- Mobile apps — native apps for iOS and Android are on their way through beta.
- Legal — our terms, privacy policy and copyright policy are published on the site.
