StanzaHelp Center

Two tools help you find things faster: search preferences, which shape what Search shows you, and Jump to…, which takes you to any place or setting by name.

Search preferences

Open them from the sliders icon next to the search box, or go to Settings › Search. Your choices belong to the profile you're using and follow it to every device.

Information cards

  • Poetic element cards: when a search names a form, style, meter, rhyme scheme or device, its definition appears above the results.
  • Sound cards: when a search matches a sound in the library, the track appears above the results so you can hear it.

If you close one of these cards with its ×, it stays hidden for the rest of that session. To turn a type of card off for good, switch it off here.

Defaults

  • Sort new searches by: relevance, most recent or most popular.
  • Open results on: the tab a search lands on: All, Poems, Poets or Sounds.

History

  • Suggest recent searches: show your recent searches as you type. They're kept on this device only.
  • Clear history: remove the recent searches stored on this device.

Content

  • Show mature content in results: turn it off to leave mature work out of search. Poems marked mature still open with their content warning, and your content-warning preferences apply either way. Members under 18 never see mature results, whatever this setting says.

Jump to…

Jump to… is the quickest way around Stanza. Type a few letters and go straight to a place, such as Saved, Drafts or Circles, or to a setting, such as Muted words, Follow requests or Notification channels.

Opening it

  • On a phone: open the More menu and use its Jump to… field.
  • On a computer: press Ctrl+K (or Cmd+K on a Mac), or use the field in the sidebar.

What it finds

  • Places & settings: every page and settings screen, labelled Place or Setting.
  • Content: once you've typed two or more characters, matching Poems and People appear too, along with See all results for your search, which opens the full Search page.

Only the places and settings available to you are shown. For example, organization tools only appear when you're acting as an organization.

Keyboard tips

  1. Press Ctrl/Cmd+K.
  2. Type part of a name, such as "mut" for Muted words.
  3. Use the arrow keys to choose, then press Enter.
  4. Press Escape to close.

Privacy in search

Search and Jump to… follow the same rules as the rest of Stanza. They only show poems you're allowed to open, and they never reveal who wrote an anonymous poem.

tip

Jump to… understands settings by name, so you don't need to remember which menu something lives in. Try typing "blocked" or "badges".
