How the Feed Learns

Your feed gets better with use

For You learns from how you read. Nothing about it is fixed: every visit teaches it a little more about what you love.

What it pays attention to

Quiet signals

• What appears on your screen: which poems you were shown.
• How long you stay: lingering on a poem suggests interest; skimming past suggests less.
• Taking a closer look: opening a poem, or changing its size to read it more comfortably.

Things you choose to do

• Reactions: Cheers, Encores and Tomatoes. A Tomato helps the feed learn what isn't for you.
• Follows: whose work you want to see.
• Replies and margin notes: what you care enough to answer.
• Saves: a private save tells the feed you valued a poem, without telling anyone else.

What you tell it directly

• Interests: the forms, styles and themes you pick in Settings › Stage.
• Mood: a temporary nudge for the next 24 hours.
• Hide from feed: a clear signal that something isn't for you.

What it blends together

For You weighs several things at once: how fresh a poem is, your connection to the poet, how other readers are responding, and how closely the poem matches your taste. Stanza builds a picture of your taste from the poems you've enjoyed. It also deliberately mixes in poems from beyond your usual circle, so your feed doesn't shrink to one style or a handful of voices.

What it doesn't do

• It doesn't chase outrage. The goal is poems you'll be glad you read, not ones designed to keep you scrolling angry.
• It doesn't reveal private choices. Saves are never shown to anyone, and the feed using them doesn't change that.
• It doesn't lock you in. Explore and Following are always there if you want the unranked view.

Steering it

1. React honestly. Cheer what you enjoy and Encore what moves you. Use Tomato when something genuinely misses.
2. Linger on what you love. Reading closely is a signal in itself.
3. Update your interests as your taste changes.
4. Use Hide from feed rather than scrolling past something repeatedly.
