StanzaHelp Center

The Writing Space is a quiet room for writing. It's a private journal that works offline and keeps your entries on your device until you decide to share one.

Opening it

  • Library › Create › Writing Space ("Drafts & journal").
  • More › Write › Journal.
  • When your connection drops, the offline banner links straight to it.

Private by default

Everything you write in the Writing Space stays on your device until you choose to publish. It isn't posted, shared or shown to anyone. You don't even need a connection to start.

Writing an entry

  1. Choose New Entry (or Start writing →).
  2. Add a title if you like. It's optional.
  3. Write. With auto-save on, your entry is saved every 30 seconds; you can also choose Save at any time.

Entry options include Word count, Paper theme, a cover, and Delete entry.

Paper

Choose the paper you write on: Blank, Ruled, Dotted or Grid. Set your usual choice as the default in Writing Space settings.

Handwriting (in the app)

In the Stanza app, switch to Handwriting mode to sketch or write by hand, with an eraser and a clear option. Handwriting notes are private and can't be published to Stanza.

Your writing at a glance

The Writing Space shows your entries, words written, how many you've published, and your day streak, along with Recent Entries and All entries. You can also search your entries.

  • Drafts: your unpublished compositions from the composer.
  • Cached Reads: poems saved for reading offline.
  • Sync now: push local changes when you're back online.

Publishing an entry

When an entry is ready, choose Publish. A short, three-step flow (Review, Settings, Confirm) lets you:

  • Set its title and visibility: Public, Followers only or Only me.
  • Add tags, content warnings, or mark it as mature content (18+).
  • Choose whether to allow comments and reactions, post anonymously, or credit an inspiration under Attribution.
  • Style its appearance: background, text colour, font and alignment.
  • Schedule for later, or publish now.

Publishing a public piece asks you to confirm that you understand it will be publicly visible. If you're offline, the entry is published once you reconnect.

Writing Space settings

Under Settings › Writing Space you'll find Auto-save entries, Writing streak reminders (with a time to be reminded), and your Default line style. These settings are stored on this device only.

Keep in mind

Because entries live on your device:

  • On the web, they're kept in your browser's storage. Clearing your browser's site data, or writing in a private window, can remove them.
  • Writing offline is safe, but use Sync now once you're back online.

Publish or copy anything you'd hate to lose.

tip

Use streak reminders as a gentle nudge, not a rule. Even a line a day keeps the habit warm.
