Five Levels of Privacy
Every submission on Stanza has a privacy level that controls who can see it.
Public
Visible to everyone, including people without a Stanza account. Appears in the public Explore feed and is searchable. Choose this when you want your work to reach the widest audience.
Followers
Only visible to people who follow you. Your poem will appear in their Following feed tab. Good for sharing with your established audience.
Friends
Only visible to mutual followers — people where you follow each other. This is a more intimate audience of people you have a reciprocal connection with.
Groups
Restricted to a specific Inner Circle. When you choose this, you will select which circle. Only members of that circle can see your work. Perfect for workshop submissions and group-only content.
Private
Only visible to you. No one else can see it. Useful for personal journaling, works-in-progress you are not ready to share, or archiving old work.
Default Privacy
You can set a default privacy level for all new submissions in Settings > Defaults. This saves you from choosing each time.
Privacy is enforced server-side, not just in the UI. Even if someone has a direct link, they cannot access content above their permission level.
