StanzaHelp Center

An organization is a shared identity on Stanza for a literary journal, press, publisher, imprint, collective, reading series, festival or similar group. It has its own profile, its own team, and its own way of publishing and featuring work — separate from the personal profiles of the people who run it.

What an organization can do

  • Have its own profile — a page with the organization's name, branding, bio and the work it has published or selected.
  • Run a team with roles — invite staff and give each person the access they need, from full administration to curating or running events.
  • Publish on behalf of the organization — staff can post as the organization, with credit to the organization alone or to both the organization and the staff member who wrote it.
  • Feature members' work — ask a poet for permission to publish or sponsor a poem they have already posted.
  • Run Open Calls — invite submissions on a theme or for an issue, review the entries and select pieces.

Registering an organization

  1. Choose Register an Organization.
  2. Enter the organization's name, its type (for example Journal, Press or Reading series), your role (Founder / Owner or Delegate), a mission statement, and optionally a website and a preferred username.
  3. Choose Submit Application.

Organizations are reviewed by the Stanza team before they are approved, and you are notified of the decision. If you are registering on someone else's behalf, choose Delegate; you can add the founder's details so they can claim the organization later.

Switching between you and your organization

Once you are on an organization's staff, it appears as an extra profile you can switch into with Switch profile. While you are acting as the organization, your stage, inbox and dashboard reflect the organization. Choose Switch to personal profile to return to your own account.

Some areas only make sense for an organization; if you open one from your personal profile, Stanza asks you to switch first.

note

An organization profile does not count towards the three personal profiles your account can hold.

Your work stays yours

Being on an organization's staff never transfers ownership of your own poems. When any organization wants to publish or sponsor your work, it sends you a request that you can accept or decline.

Organizations and plans

Any member can apply to register an organization. The Organizations plan adds extras such as organization-level analytics, unlimited open calls and an ad-free organization profile. See Stanza Plans & Subscriptions for details.

tip

Before inviting your team, fill in the organization's profile — bio, avatar and banner. It is the first thing poets see when they come across one of your open calls.
