There are two ways onto an organization's staff: you are invited, or you apply. Either way, you keep your personal profile; the organization becomes an extra profile you can switch into.
Joining by invitation
An organization admin can invite you from Invite Staff Member, choosing your profile, a role and, optionally, a custom title.
- You receive a Staff invitation notification.
- Accept or decline it there, or from Pending invites on the Organizations page.
- Once you accept, the organization appears in your profile switcher.
Applying to join
Some organizations accept applications. On the organization's profile, choose Apply to Join and add an optional message about yourself. The organization's admins review applications; if yours is approved, you join as a Contributor, and the organization may adjust your role later.
The Apply to Join button only appears when the organization is accepting applications.
Staff roles
Each staff member has a role. Roles are grouped by what they can do:
Leadership and administration
Owner, Delegate, Co-Delegate and Admin. These roles manage the organization: its settings, analytics and billing, inviting and removing staff, changing roles, reviewing applications, sending newsletters, and approving posts made on the organization's behalf.
- Owner is the organization's founder.
- Delegate is someone who registered or runs the organization on the founder's behalf. Co-Delegate shares that responsibility.
Editorial
Editor can create, edit and archive open calls, review open-call entries and select or decline them. By default, Editors can also post as the organization and ask poets to feature their work.
Other roles
Curator, Event Organizer and Contributor are for staff who help in more specific ways. What these roles can do depends on how the organization is set up — for example, the organization chooses the minimum role allowed to post on its behalf.
Organizations can change who may post on their behalf and who may send feature requests, so your exact permissions depend on that organization's settings.
Leaving an organization
Any staff member can leave. Open the organization, choose Leave, and confirm. You lose your staff role and access to staff-only areas; poems you posted under your own name stay yours.
The organization's main admin cannot leave or be removed.
If you are invited by an organization you don't recognise, look at its profile before accepting. You can always decline an invitation.
