Curate what you love

Lists let you gather work into collections you can share: favourite sonnets, poets to watch, a workshop's reading, the best of a writing challenge. Unlike saves, which are private bookmarks, lists are curation. They're made to be seen, and a public list carries your name.

Creating a list

  1. Open Lists from the Library (in the Community section), or pin Lists to your More menu.
  2. Choose Create List.
  3. Give it a title (required) and, if you like, a short description.
  4. Choose a list type and privacy.
  5. Save. Your new list appears under My Lists.

You can also create a list on the spot while adding something: in the Add to a list picker, choose New list.

List types

  • Reading List: poems and pieces to read.
  • Collection: a curated set gathered around a theme.
  • Playlist: a sequence to listen through, which suits spoken word and episodes.

The type helps readers know what to expect. It doesn't limit what the list can hold.

Privacy

  • Public: anyone can see it, and it can appear on the Lists Discover tab.
  • Followers: only people who follow you.
  • Friends: only your friends (followers you follow back).
  • Private: only you, plus anyone you share it with.

New lists start with your default list privacy. If you've never set one, that's Private. See "Default Visibility for New Poems and Lists".

A cover image

Add a cover image to give your list a face on cards and in Discover.

What lists can hold

Lists are flexible. Alongside poems and poets, they can hold replies and margin notes, critiques, circles, organizations, open calls, podcasts and podcast episodes, live performance replays, and even other lists. See "Lists That Hold Replies, Episodes, Replays and Other Lists".

Reading Packs

A list owner can choose some of the list's poems to make a Reading Pack. Readers can download it in the Stanza app to read offline, which is handy for a flight or a commute. Only poems the reader is allowed to open are included.

Following lists

Find a list you love? Choose Follow List to keep up with it. Lists you follow appear alongside your own.

Ideas for lists

"Sonnets that broke the rules", "Poets to watch", "Workshop week 3", "NaPoWriMo picks", "Spoken word for long walks". Organise however inspires you.

tip

Want to remember a poem without telling anyone? Use **Save** instead. Saves are private; lists are for sharing your taste.
