Stanza gives you control at two levels: each poem you publish, and your account as a whole. Here is a quick tour.
Who can see each poem
Every poem has its own visibility, chosen when you publish and changeable later:
- Public — anyone.
- Followers — people who follow you.
- Friends — people you are friends with on Stanza.
- Inner Circle — the members of one circle you choose.
- Private — only you.
Set the starting point for new poems (and new lists) in your settings — Public, Followers, Friends or Private. You can still change it on each piece.
Posting anonymously
Choose Post anonymously to publish without your name. Readers will not see your name or profile on the poem. Your poem still belongs to you and appears in your own library. Stanza's moderation team can always see who wrote a poem, for safety reasons.
Who sees what you do
Under Who sees what you do in your privacy settings, you choose who can see your activity — the poems you react to, your replies, what you add to lists and who you follow. You can set each kind separately, or set all four at once.
- Keep my tomatoes to myself leaves your name off the list of people who threw a Tomato on a poem. Tomatoes are never shown publicly either way.
- Whatever you choose here, your replies still show your name in the conversation itself.
Your account
- Require follow approval — approve each new follower yourself.
- Show activity status — let others see when you were last active, or not.
- Discoverable — show your profile in search results and poet suggestions, or not.
- Allow critiques — accept or turn away public critiques of your work.
Lists
By default, other members can add your work to their lists. You can turn that off for new pieces in your privacy settings, or for one piece at a time. Turning it off stops new additions; lists that already hold a piece keep it.
Saves are always private
When you save a poem or a poet, nobody else is told — not even the poet. Saves are counted, never listed.
