If you need a break from Stanza, or want to leave for good, you have two options: deactivate your account, or delete it. Both are in Settings › Account, under Danger Zone.
Deactivating: a pause
Choose Deactivate account to temporarily hide your profile. You will be asked for your password to confirm.
- Your profile is hidden from others while you are away.
- Nothing is deleted.
Deactivation is the right choice if you think you might come back.
Deleting: leaving for good
Choose Delete account to permanently delete your account and everything associated with it. To confirm, you will enter your password and type DELETE.
The 14-day grace period
Deletion is not instant. Your account is scheduled for deletion and permanently removed 14 days later. If you change your mind during those 14 days, contact us straight away at privacy@stanza.ink.
What is deleted
After the grace period, we permanently delete your account and its contents, including:
- all of your profiles;
- your poems and replies;
- your reactions and follows;
- your circle memberships;
- your notifications;
- the media files you uploaded;
- your sign-in.
Deletion covers your whole account — every profile on it.
Some records may be kept where the law requires us to — for example, records relating to legal notices or safety reports.
Before you delete
- Download your data. Use Settings › Account › Data Export if you want a copy of your work. Once your account is deleted, we cannot recover it.
- Cancel any subscription. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. Cancel it in your store account first, or you may keep being charged. If you subscribed on the web, cancel from Settings › Subscription › Manage subscription.
- Hand over anything you run. If you own an Inner Circle or help run an organization, make sure someone else can carry on.
After the 14-day grace period, deletion cannot be undone.
Organizations
Deleting an organization is separate from deleting your account. Organization admins can delete an organization from its settings; that permanently deletes the organization's data and cannot be undone.
